Describing yourself as a German-resident "Randian Libertarian" on your About page seems quite at odds with the notion of national conscription, in the US as in Germany. Conscription in Germany ended in 2011, and today there is no mandatory military service though Boris Pistorius lobbies for it. .In the US, it is still a "de jure" system, with the Selective Service maintaining lists on an "as needed" basis. I was drafted into the Army back in the LBJ era as that lost war in Vietnam seemed so justifiable. Democrats.

As the Libertarian Institute states, "Authoritarians love conscription because it turns human beings into resources, for the factory or the battlefield. The idea receives support from across the political spectrum, either (a) to fight wars abroad, or (b) for the development of a 'youth corps' providing 'free' services at home. Neither excuse justifies enslaving young people to serve the interests of the political class." The American Thinker article by Patricia McCarthy states the obvious, if one is not an advocate for those "authoritarians [ who ] love conscription."

Rand opposed the draft. Libertarians oppose the draft. The McCarthy article opposes the draft. As ex-Army and a one-time draftee, I oppose the draft. Do you oppose the draft, Randian Libertarian?
