(The Center Square) – Washington GOP Chair and State Rep. Jim Walsh, R-Aberdeen, has filed a federal lawsuit alongside Franklin County Auditor Matt Beaton against a consent decree agreed to by the Secretary of State’s Office that overturned a 30-day voter residency requirement in place since the state constitution was ratified in 1889.
Announcing the lawsuit filed in U.S. Federal Court of Western Washington, Walsh wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, that to he did so to “reverse a shady scheme to destroy the State Constitution's rule that a person be a WA resident for 30 days before registering to vote....
In their lawsuit, Walsh and Beaton claim that the plaintiffs acted as a “tool for a partisan elections lawyer to roam the country voiding laws he perceives as detriment to the electoral prospects of candidates he favors....

The Democrats play for keeps the Republicans play to be nice.
Democrats are the same all over the country, the file lawsuit after lawsuit, knowing most will not be successful, the ones that are successful are usually game changers.
In a lot of cases, Democrats will make cheating legal, ballot harvesting used to be illegal everywhere, now that’s not true, universal mail in voting is an open invitation to cheat.
Until Republicans develop a comprehensive strategy to combat election fraud, they will continue to lose ground.
Dems changing the rules so close to the election, they hope there will be no time for a lawsuit to fix it?
And how can a “consent decree” change the state Constitution?
Mmmmm.......more reverential “migrant worshippers.”
A migrant worshipping shrine to the “refugee god” on every street corner to show reverence and loyalty to illegal unvetted masses (sob).
They could care less about the crisis caused to taxpayers by illegal migrants.
That’s how it used to be in our county. You had to register at the Supervisor of Elections Office 30 days before an election. I suspect that’s an important factor in getting votes counted on election night, no or very few provisional ballots to deal with.
“Each house shall be the judge of the elections, returns, and qualifications of its own members”
Constitution of the United States, Article I, Section 5
The Republican House of Representatives can adjudicate any matter which may present itself during a federal House candidate election, such as conducting a signature verification.
The Republican House might have special masters appointed by each state Republican party (and Democratic party if it wishes to participate) adjudicate (and validate) each voter and each ballot that comes in by mail or is to be dropped into a drop box.
The adjudications would need to be done right then and there in most cases. That would require preparation.
“Until Republicans develop a comprehensive strategy to combat election fraud, they will continue to lose ground.”
By now, I’m convinced that ‘Republicans’ like it this way. Playing ‘nice’ with the DNC means they can keep their place at the table when Liberals divide up the spoils.
How soon until the democrats sue to eliminate any residency requirements for any state. This way they can bus people from their strongholds in New York to vote in a swing state like Pennsylvania.
Sadly I think you’re right
Allegedly people are already voting this way, and have been for a while. On the David Webb show a trucker called in claiming to have spoken with several NYU students voting for Obama in Ohio in the 2008 election; none of those students were Ohio residents.
Who was the shady lawyer?
Probably Marc Elias but could be someone else. Don’t have time to read through the rest today.
