It is appalling that the most recent amateur assassins were able to get as close as they did.
This tells me that a true professional would have had no issues.

The one at the golf course had Harris / Biden signs and bumper stickers, and a contributor to Democrat causes.
In 2018, when that guy sent the pipe bombs and it was discovered he had Trump bumper stickers, he was connected to every single Republican in the country running for office by the press and used it to negate the mobs of Leftists reeking havoc across the country and trying to beat down the doors of the Supreme Court to prevent Kavanaugh from being sworn in. Of course, there is no such treatment of the Democrats to associate this would-be assassin with all of their candidates like what was done in 2018.

SS security at Butler was appalling bad. SS security at Mar-A-Lago was certainly lacking, but not the complete clown show seen at Butler.
According to news reports, Routh’s chosen location had been routinely used by the media and paps to get photos of Trump golfing, including when he was President. The SS had to know about it. Why was it not checked earlier? Or were they counting on checking it out “just in plenty of time”?
Thank heaven they accomplished the second, and Trump is safe and sound. But what if Routh has not been stupid enough to poke the muzzle through the fence where SS could easily spot it from where they were hanging out at that hole well before Trump could move into Routh’s line of sight and within range?
Perhaps they planned to walk over to that fence to check it, but saw him first. We don’t know whether that was their plan. Someone needs to ask about that.
I know security is not as tight when the protectee goes somewhere or does something unplanned. On the other hand, Trump is known for playing golf whenever he is at Mar-A-Lago. It doesn’t take a genius would-be assassin to figure that’s just what he’d be doing if the weather was nice.
What frightens me is just what you said: what happens if a real pro shows up, foreign or domestic, if these two amateurs came so close?
If Routh had had military training, President Trump might well be lying in state in the rotunda.

DJT owns several golf courses in South Florida, including the famous Doral. So how would Routh know which course to stake out? DJT had called some of his friends to invite them to golf with him that day, so although it was not on his schedule, the outing also was not entirely unplanned. Therefore it is entirely reasonable to ask: What if other Trump golf courses were staked out that morning and the bad guys just melted away when Routh was discovered and arrested?
There is a good chance that this second attempt on PDJT’s life will not be the last. A plausible explanation for these assassination attempts is simple to boil down: the political left cannot survive an almost total loss of power by the losing the House, Senate, and the Presidency. With the failure of character assassination and the failures of lawfare attempting to insure that PDJT is not elected to public office ever again, there remains only one sure-fire solution - politically motivated murder.
The political left has all the tools needed to take PDJT out permanently. These are the USSS, FBI, JustUs Department, and possibly the CIA. The only problem I see is that if PDJT is killed, it has to be done with a ‘scary’ assault rifle such as an AR15, AK47, or some such. This is a political constraint that is designed to provide support for anti-2A legislation that will surely follow.
But that presents a problem. These type of weapons are not accurate when longer distances are involved. They were not designed to be. So while the deep-state operatives assigned to eliminate PDJT can secure fanatical assets to actually perform the deed, the asset has to be placed close enough to the target such that he will be successful with a weapon that is a short range device. However if he is positioned close, there is a good chance that he will be discovered by any competent group doing a sweep of the area.
The last two attempts on PDJT’s life support this point. Two months ago the shooter was beyond the reliable range of his AR-style rifle and missed. A few days ago the alleged shooter was plenty close but was discovered and arrested. Should he become too talkative remember this: Epstein didn’t kill himself.
There will most likely be another attempt before the election. There is too much at stake for the left. The media will of course ‘ho-hum’ the event regardless of the outcome.
It’s not just the Lame Street Media but I believe the Deep State is the biggest problem.
