This is last days of the Roman Empire stuff translated to the 21st century. The sheer stupidity and incompetence that comes from culture-wide decadence.

My prediction:

Panic buttons (previously called holdup alarms) will become widespread.

Store employees will use these for various situations, some emergency and some not

Police will get too many alarms and response times will become that of 911 calls (many times 30 minutes or more)

Government will start fining stores for too many alarms
