During the next 20 years as inflation and social services eat up more of the budget, we won’t have that navy anymore, just like what happened the Great Britain after WW2.

Wouldn’t be surprised if dozen or more members of Congress are thinking the same thing.
It’s bad enough that the Chinese own Smithfield Foods and our supply of bacon is in peril!
True...the Japanese did a great deal to help out Granite City Illinois years ago when they bought up one of the companies there. They fixed up neglected city parks and assisted employees in getting more education, improved safety, etc., despite the local union culture being obstinate to change.
Not sure how long it lasted before Illinois politics corroded their efforts, though.
