If there was a conspiracy to enable the assassination attempt by having the Secret Service look the other way, the chief agent in charge would have necessarily been part of the plan.
I expect that he was part of the conspiracy. If he gets pushed hard enough, he may flip and identify the people who gave him the directions. But I could be wrong in that whole assessment. Maybe it would be best to hold back on the waterboard interrogations for now.

The Government is not a monolithic organization. It is composed of factions in temporary alliance. Often the factions are in bitter conflict with each other and constantly working to gain some advantage. That percolates down into the bureaucracy of the FBI and the Secret Service.
One might expect that factions within the FBI already have plenty of incriminating evidence against persons in the Secret Service, and persons within the Biden administration. While they may be tasked with a cover-up by their sponsors, they are not going to discard information that will give them a huge bargaining edge for their factions.
I am guessing that the FBI already has a good outline of how the conspiracy was organized and who are the people who organized it. Not quite enough for indictments or trials yet. But good enough to make some pointed demands behind closed doors.
Ironically, the best deal the FBI could probably get with such information would be if President Trump is re-elected.
Because of the failure of the surgical strike a few peripheral personnel will have to be sacrificed, or at given have the appearance of having been “disciplined.”
