I don't think any poll has shown that abortion is actually high on the list for voters. The media always says this, but the data doesn't back it up. Actually, the data shows Republicans are more likely to be hurt by not being pro-life.

Even though the media doesn't like to say it, Republicans basically agree with Democrats on social issues now.

Why not agree with Dems on all positions? Or just be 1% to the right? After all, the media tells us that Republicans are so extreme and all these issues hurt Republicans in elections.

Over the last 30 years, Democrats have moved to the left, and Republicans have moved to the left just as much, but they are still, "more extreme than ever."
