1. FDR dumped Henry Wallace for Harry Truman and saved the nation a communist president;
2. John F. Kennedy chose Lyndon Johnson over the violent objections of RFK and "won" Texas in the election because of Johnson's control of the barrios along the Mexican border and, with the addition of bought and paid for Illinois, gained JFK the presidency in 1960.
JD Vance was a brilliant choice that ranks with the examples cited above. He is a saving face of this campaign where the principal accusation against Trump is his obnoxious behavior. Vance has not put a foot wrong even as he is exposed himself in every occasion to every question. His answers have been flawless without condescension.
His biography and family are unimpeachable with a wife who is a woman of color, gracious and extremely accomplished.
Finally, the man is a bona fide conservative, a Trump conservative, and one who will be durable for the next four years and might even emerge as a very strong but real conservative candidate for the big office in 2028.
JD Vance is a great addition to the ticket, more important than Musk or Kennedy endorsements.
