I believe it because there have been a group of 4-6 medium quakes over a 10 day period off the coast of Oregon and no large quake followed. Predicting earthquakes is obviously a very tricky business. You just never know for sure. It’s a lot harder than diagnosing a medical condition. I guess that’s why I’ve always been fascinated by quakes.

Looks like poor Russia has angry Ukes on the West, and an angry God on the East. Nothing like being in the squeeze.
There is also a semi dormant supervolcano in the area - like Yellowstone, but not as well monitored
