I’m sorry, I find it offensive to present in Spanish in the US. Anyone not speaking or understanding English is likely illegal..

What’s completely offensive is your assertion. Down here in the oil patch there are lots of legal Spanish speakers, maybe not all are US citizens but certainly not all illegals. One of my Hispanic co-workers told me a story that a few months ago a friend of his asked what part of Mexico he was from. He answered his parents were from South Texas. Out company bookkeeper is bilingual whose parents are citizens but grandparents are from Mexico across the river from Presidio. My barber is Hispanic from El Paso who speaks Spanish. The young lady at the restaurant who served me my breakfast this morning is completely bilingual and very fluent in both languages.

Finally, the New Mexico constitution recognizes this state’s cultural and ethnic diversity, reaffirms the rights of Hispanos and Spanish speakers under the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, and prohibits discrimination based on an "inability to speak, read or write the English or Spanish languages."

I wasn’t home for the rally tonight but tried to catch up on the thread when I got home. I appreciate your reply and want to personally thank you for it because I found the comment you referenced to be an ignorant, bigoted statement. I ignored it thinking I was fast reading through replies and maybe caught the meaning out of context.

The more individuals I meet in the MAGA movement, the more open, loving and kind I find them to be. I Have relatives who married Hispanic people that adopted the United States, its language and its culture. They immigrated here in accordance with the law. My son married a beautiful woman of Hispanic heritage, born legally here in the USA.

Going back through the rally thread and slowly reading the comments, you are correct in your reply and i applaud it.
The post you referenced is indicative of bigotry and ignorance and has no place here on this forum let alone the MAGA movement.

Sure, there are some historic Spanish speakers, MAYBE. But that was over 175 years ago and all legit people in the US have learned English. Through 2016, English as our national language was a key platform item of Republicans. It should still be, it is our national language and citizenship applicants in the United States are generally required to demonstrate proficiency in English. This includes the ability to read, write, and speak basic English. So, I stand by my assertion that anyone not able to read, write, or speak English are very likely not citizens and equally likely not eligible to vote.

If you want to argue the Democrat view, open borders, destruction of our country, culture, and identity, go for it.

Agree 100%.

If you want to live here, LEARN THE F**KING LANGUAGE! How disrespectful to the people here. How arrogant to diss us like that.

I read a list of some bills JDV had proposed or submitted, and one was that everything, including all printed matter, has to be in English. That’s when I started to get warm fuzzies about him.

I’m pretty sure that if I went to live in a Spanish speaking country, they would not allow me to continue speaking English.
