"Not like I'm worried you'll ever show up to haul me off to gaol. That's right, Sir Mark Rowley, your bluff is being called by Commoner C.A. Skeet. Put down your tea and come get me, you wanker. Where would you wanna meet up? Lexington? Concord? Yorktown?

You wanna see riots? Try stealing an American citizen off American soil for exercising hi/her First Amendment rights. Then you'll see riots. Good luck making it back to the airport. As you well know, we also have other amendments..."

And the British people could put an end to it if they summoned the will to do so.

You have to sometimes wonder why they fought so hard in the 1940s only to accept what is being done to them now.

Then again, we seem to be following the same path in the US....

The British people have been utterly betrayed by their elites and unlike the Republican party, the rules in place of their political parties meant it was impossible to wrest control over those parties away from the elites who ran them. What they need to do is support an entirely new political party the elites do not control - like Reform and then vote it overwhelmingly into office.

They saw the Tories were utterly worthless - completely ideologically captured - by the Elites. Now the see the same is true of Labour as well. Nobody even needs question that the Elites run the Lib Dems. They’re all worthless and need to be replaced.

You have to sometimes wonder why they fought so hard in the 1940s

They fought to preserve their empire and to prevent another power having more influence on the continent.

They lost.

By the way - taking an 80 year retrospective view - why do you think the US fought WW II? And who won?
