CHICAGO — Crash-and-grab burglars targeted the Prada store in downtown Chicago on Saturday morning. It’s the second such burglary in two weeks along that pricey stretch of Oak Street, just off the Mag Mile.
Just after 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, four or five people compromised a large display window at the Prada boutique, 30 East Oak. Based on the extent of the damage and the strength of the security glass, they may have used a vehicle to ram their way in.

How about reactive armor, would that work?
The DNC is coming to town!
Were they white?
Who cares? We need more Korean run businesses.
I didn’t know that Chicago has adopted the New York City/State idea of not prosecuting “minor” crime.
I find that remark both racist and offensive.
“four or five people compromised a large display window”. “Compromised”? Don’t think the window agreed.
*We need more Korean run businesses.
I find that remark both racist and offensive.*
This is FreeRepublic. I find your remark naive.
My God I hope that you are kidding.... Go Korea!
I find his comment to be astute. When the mongrels were rioting in LA and burning and stealing, the Koreans stationed themselves on top of their business with long guns. Shotguns and rifles. Go Korea!
I worked at a jewelry shop in downtown East St. Louis, Illinois fifty years ago. There was a Korean-owned wig shop just a few doors down from us. One day I saw a large black woman running down the sidewalk, stolen wig in hand, with a small Korean woman in pursuit. The thief took a swing at the Korean woman and missed. The Korean woman decked her.
Great story!
But I bet you have plenty of other good ones from your time in East St. Louis. I loved that Chevy Chase scene in "Vacation" when they get lost in East St. Louis. LOL.
A CPD sick out would be glorious for the convention. And let Pritzger call in “19 year old cooks” (Walz insulting National Guard soldiers) to control his rowdy mob of democrats.
“Crash-and-grab”
I’m so old I remember “cash-and-carry.” Times have changed.
I never felt unsafe there. Now, of, course, would be a different story. It is just a disaster. But it was an interesting place. I met some real characters. One reminded me of Richard Pryor’s “Mud Bone” character. I was on good terms with the Black Muslims who sold frozen fish from a truck every week. One day while I was walking back from lunch a guy in a car asked me if I wanted to buy a ring: 18k gold with a 2 karat diamond (he said) that was completely fake and I told him so and how I knew that. He was pretty good-natured about it even though he got caught.
Is a Prada store some big deal?
like a Foot Locker, liquor store, or something?
Heck, if there was a nearby Applebee’s, it could have been a Cash, Grab, and Crabs for all ya can eat...
