When it was time to get up in the morning and I was still in bed, my calico cat Tasha would jump on the bed and purr loudly. If that didn’t work, she would bat my face to remind me that it was time to get up and feed her.
She passed away at 18 from renal failure, a frequent cause of death for older cats, on November 8, 2016. Although it was a sad day for me, it was also Election Day, so I was cheered by the good news later that evening.
