Biden declares war on… plastic: ‘The world’s on fire and he’s worried about plastic forks’
The Spectator ^ | 08/07/2024 | Cockburn

Hurricane Debby is barreling through Florida, America’s economy is crashing, US troops were injured in Iraq Monday and conflict in the Middle East is on the brink of a dangerous escalation — sounds like the perfect time to ban the use of plastic cutlery, right?!

Instead of addressing the multiple crises the nation is currently grappling with, the Biden administration decided it was time federal government workers stopped using plastic forks.

The Biden administration announced it is launching a plan to “phase out” the “procurement of single-use plastics from food service operations, events and packaging by 2027, and from all federal operations by 2035,” according to the White House.

The plastic includes “plastic and polystyrene food and beverage containers, bottles, straws, cups, cutlery and disposable plastic bags.”

“The president is committed to taking ambitious actions… to end plastic pollution and is calling upon the global community to do the same,” the White House said, “with the goal to reduce the global production and consumption of virgin plastics.”

“The world’s on fire and he’s worried about plastic forks,” Republican senator Mike Rounds of South Dakota told the Daily Mail. His Senate colleague Roger Wicker of Mississippi called Biden’s efforts “laughable” and “absurd,” saying the ban will most likely backfire, raising costs and hurting US plastic suppliers.

The US government is one of the largest consumers of goods because of how many people it employs. The government should shrink its size and reduce the consumer rather than outlawing the product used, said Senator Wicker.

And banning government facilities from using plastic cutlery will just force them to use stainless steel, which means washing more dishes and using more water.

This ban is nothing new, though, according to Oklahoma senator James Lankford, who recalls a previous attempt to ban plastic cutlery on Capitol Hill during his time in the House from 2011-2015. Pelosi first introduced the “Green the Capitol” initiative back in 2007, which was scrapped in 2011 when Republicans regained control of the House.

The decision could also greatly affect global markets since the US is the single largest buyer of goods and services in the world.

If only we cared about our real problems as much as what kind of cutlery we’re using… maybe the war on plastic can wait, Joe.

So I guess the far-lefties getting rid of plastic bags and straws didn’t help. Dumbass “white dudes”.

Why not the Congress’s very own brand of bottled water?
A water fountain or Yeti Cooler Cup is too much of an inconvenience? Seriously folks. Congress contracts for its very own private label bottled water to serve in the capitol building.

All we need to shield us is the Iron Dome of wokery - use the right pronouns, more abortions, more windmills, more illegal immigrants, more sodomites, more drag queens, more flag burning, etc.

It’s typical of weak and irresolute leaders. In moments calling for decisive measures, they want to debate and focus on trivial issues.

I shouldn’t have to say that it’s also typical of Liberal ‘leadership’ because of their incessant, dread terror of ‘responsibility’. They want their fingerprints on NOTHING.

It’s also why they love working ‘under the radar’. We have a treacherous cult in the DNC which has dedicated itself to the exploitation of fear and to a mindless egalitarian barbarism.

Biden should convene a summit of world leaders to address this urgent crisis

Plastic water and soda bottles are by far the biggest part of the trash stream that could be changed. All it takes is for the people to stop buying all these different brands of bottled water in plastic bottles. Buy glass or aluminum instead.

The better quality sparkling water is still bottled in glass containers. The cheap water bottled by Coke, Nestle and other producers is all in plastic.
Most of those plastic bottles DO NOT get recycled.
I find them all the time on the side of the road near my house. Right next to the Natty Daddy beer cans, KFC and Dunkin cups.

NH is one of the few northeast states that does not have a deposit on beverage containers. NH also burns a lot of their mixed trash. Wellabrator Technologies operates several plants in the northeast that burn the garbage. Boil water, create steam. Turn a turbine and create electricity with trash as its fuel. Talk about CLEAN energy.

I’m all for this experiment in quackery. It only affects federal workers. Let them be the lab rats.

Biden is worried about nothing - he’s a vegetable.

It’s the men behind the curtain running things and we don’t know who they are.

They will also be the ones telling the Kamel what to do.

The reason glass is used in premium products is its absolute barrier qualities. The fizz won’t go out provided the bottle has a metal cap.

Plastic is used because it’s cheap and lighter to transport. At room temperature the fizz goes out in two or three months.

The best way to get rid of plastic is to thermally decompose it to synthesis gas and either burn the gas for energy or use it to make more plastics.

This requires people to throw their trash in the bin rather than on the road, but that’s asking a lot from today’s population.

See my username.

Nah, they’ll switch to bamboo chopsticks. Good practice for the logical result of future Democrat leadership.

Forkgate is really just a subtle “proof of life” presentation, showing us Joe is alive and in charge.
