Just more ways to manipulate the public into believing their lies and misdirections.
Recall that just a few weeks ago it was Axios that led the effort to claim that Harris was never the "border czar." The intent was to start rehabilitating Harris by planting stories like that in Axios so they could be picked up in other media (which is what happened).
However, it was soon discovered that Axios had previously written stories calling Harris the "border czar," as did many of the other media outlets that picked up the story, so the whole gaslighting effort came crashing down on Axios.
