Investing in good companies is a proven path to wealth.

It is. But if you’ve got the time (10+ years to ride out the dips), it’s kinda rigged in your favor. Just don’t try to time the market. And don’t chase the latest fads. Stick to an index of large, dividend-paying stocks. Keep a decent cash reserve.
I made many investment mistakes in my younger days. Since then, the above has been a good fit for me. Might not be a good fit for others.
That has become my take, as well.
During the Republican Convention, where the head of the Teamsters was speaking, it occurred to me that if Trump pulls off the change he appears to be making to the Republican Party, the Party may well find itself in bed with the Unions. I have always thought Unions to be crooks, but I realized that we may just be swapping one set of crooks for another. Unions priced American labor out of a job and Wall Street was happy to outsource the work.
With the world the way it is, if America does not retain manufacturing readiness, it won’t have a prayer of retaining freedom.
