Victor Davis Hanson: How Trump Can Win—or Lose—the Election
American Greatness ^ | 5 Aug, 2024 | Victor Davis Hanson

Posted on 08/05/2024 4:49:09 AM PDT by MtnClimber

Moving forward, Donald Trump needs to focus his attack on the disastrous Biden governance of the last four years. Make Harris own it. And contrast it with 2017-21 and what will follow in 2025.

The Good News

The good news for the Trump campaign is that the sure Democratic nominee Kamala Harris is a lifelong California hard leftist at a time when the state is emblematic of progressive nihilism. Her extremist advocacies as a San Francisco county and city attorney, state Attorney General, and senator are on record. And they are consistent with what has virtually destroyed the state.

Harris was also a driving force as vice president for Joe Biden’s unpopular and unworkable progressive policies—whether open borders, massive illegal immigration, hyperinflation, fanning woke divisiveness, arguing for lax criminal prosecution, or defunding the police. She was far closer to the mindset of the unhinged Squad than Joe Biden himself.

None of the Biden-Harris administration’s main policy initiatives ever polled 50 percent approval. Abroad, the world blew up under their tenure with an unbridled Putin invading Ukraine, an unbound Iran brazenly using its proxies to attack Israel, and China all but warning the West of its impending absorption of Taiwan—now not a question of if but only when.

So, it should be easy for Trump to win the key midwestern swing states. All he needs to do is repeatedly remind voters that Harris is the most far-left presidential candidate in modern history. He can drive home that she is not only on record endorsing these extreme positions but has been doing so emphatically for years to energize her exclusively left-wing constituents and audiences.

If Trump heeds the lessons of late Lee Atwater, then he need only follow the 1988 Republican campaign script, when hard-left Democratic nominee Michael Dukakis’s 17-point lead....

I’m a VDH fan BUT Donald Trump is wise, seasoned and sharp enough to intuitively do what needs to be done.

Thanks for the advice VDH but Trump’s got this!

I agree. VDH’s advice this time sounds like the advice many gave Trump the past two elections on toning down the rhetoric and sounding more “presidential”. Usually I agree with VDH, but today I have trouble understanding why Trump should change what’s already worked twice for him.

As much as I want Trump to win I agree with VDH. Trump needs to stick to the issues. Let all the surrogates do all the personal attacks. But, Trump won’t do that. It isn’t in his nature.

Agreed. If Trump listened to conventional wisdom he would have never won in 2016 in the first place. Frankly, his insults are nothing compared to the crap his political enemies are doing to him. I like VDH, but like so many intellectuals on our side, he doesn’t want to get his hands dirty when the other side has been dragging us into the mud for decades!

Dear President Trump,

Please stop being yourself so you can be more like Hollywood, crony politicians, the media, pundits, etc.

It will help you to “connect” with the average man since you obviously have no idea how to do that.

Signed
Head in the sand

VDH-—to win the needed key midwestern swing states Trump needs to repeatedly remind voters
<><>Harris is the most far-left presidential candidate in modern history
<><>she is on multiple records endorsing extreme positions
<><>she has actively energized her left-wing constituents for years
<><>cite the “exuberance” for lefty Dem Dukakis, ending w/ a pitiful loss from a 17-point lead.

Trump needs to remember he is not up against Kamala. He is up against the entire Deep State apparatus.

They are protecting her, and she is protecting them.

Kamala shows her true colors on The Big Issues.

At a December 2017 presser, then-Sen Kamala Harris fumed
<><>she tyranically warned Americans not to say “Merry Christmas”
<><>because permanent status was needed for illegals who came here as children.
<><>Kamala trooped out speakers who pushed for the Dream Act,
<><>Christmas was verboten b/c a “pathway to citizenship” for illegal minors came first.

“And when we all sing happy tunes, and sing Merry Christmas, and wish each other Merry Christmas, these children are not going to have a Merry Christmas. How dare we speak Merry Christmas. How dare we? They will not have a Merry Christmas,” Harris nagged in a video obtained by Fox News Digital.

cont

As usual the bleeding heart Marxist had no clue.
These minors are draining the Social Security system.

Reference: A 10-month investigation Scripps News uncovered that every year, thousands of migrant children disappear from their homes shortly after arriving in the U.S. But there is no clear local, state or federal government agency taking responsibility for searching for many of these missing ...Apr 2, 2024

This is so bogus-——the kids arent missing, they are loaned out, passed around to other migrants. to be used in lucrative scams to get tax dollars from S/S and hefty disability checks.

Vindictive Biden overturned Trump’s order to get the DNA of these so-called needy families, to make sure the kids are really theirs.

A common practice by these greedy illegals is getting a crooked doctor to say a kid’s autistic b/c they get hefty SS tax paid benefits every month for the kid.

The maximum possible disability benefit for autism in 2024 is $943 per month for SSI and about $3,822 per month for SSDI. These maximums apply regardless of what condition you have or whether you apply with one condition or multiple. The actual amount received depends on specific circumstances. (Dec 7, 2023)

Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is a key benefit for children under 16 living with disability, including autism. It is assessed according to care needs, and a diagnosis is not required to make a claim. DLA helps cover the extra costs of raising a child with a disability. (Jan 30, 2024)

And it’s a sure bet they invent their “family circumstances.”

Plus senior illegals collect S/S without ever working here and not putting a thin dime into the system.

Kamala Harris did not grow up in a red, white and blue, all-American, flag-waving household.
<><>Kamala has always been an inbred radical.
<><>Kamala grew up in the family of two foreign-born committed Marxists.
<><>Imbued with Marxist philosophy discussed at the dinner table for her entire life.
<><>Equity, and the other components of Critical Race Theory, is who Kamala is.
<><>She deeply believes that it is the job of the state to make things “fair.”

Kamala Harris was birthed of foreign-born parents more Marxist than Bernie Sanders.

She was “officially” declared the Democratic Party’s 2024 candidate for the office of the presidency by a majority of Democratic Party state delegates.

After winning not a single delegate during the 2020 primaries, and not even being on the ballot during the 2024 primaries, Kamala Harris has successfully subverted democracy——the Commie way——to become the Democrats’ presidential candidate with a $350 million war chest.

VDH mentioned the “exuberance” for lefty Dem Michael Dukakis, ending w/
his pitiful loss from a 17-point lead. Getting into a tank was not Mike's best idea.

Photoshopping Harris in the tank would be a neat pic.

Only four of VP Harris’ initial 71 staff hires remain; a shocking 92% staff turnover rate.
The rest either quit or were fired, according to non-partisan fiscal watchdog “Open The Books.”

Signs of a toxic workplace?
Or does Kamala have a hidden agenda?

Fiscal watchdog “Open The Books’” investigation revealed a $2 million plus discrepancy in Harris’ allocation of taxpayer dollars. OTB calculated that for VP Harris’s 28 staff listed in the Senate report, the 2021 salaries added up to $2,334,223. But the vice president’s office “got $5 million for 23 full time staff in 2021 and requested over $6 million for 27 full time staff in 2022.

Harris’ office reportedly refused to answer any questions from OTB regarding this inconsistency. OTB said Harris’ office is a “revolving door” where there’s a perpetual staff exodus of key aides heading for the exits.......that might correspond to the $2 million discrepancy in her tax-paid payroll.

Payroll fraud entails serious crimes.......falsifying govt documents, misappropriation of tax dollars, skimming, larceny, check tampering, check kiting, billing fraud, payroll fraud, reimbursement fraud, pension fraud, misuse of tax dollars, theft of tax dollars, ID fraud, Social Security swindles, IRS fraud.

Cong Andy Ogles wants to impeach Harris; he should
focus on the $2 million govt payroll scam she pulled.
