If the Israelis bought off someone in the IRGC it would have been done through someone known as a “cutout.” That’s someone who is hired, but either doesn’t know who hired him or who believes he was hired by, say, a rich Saudi. If the Israelis hired someone directly, it greatly increases the opportunity for betrayal or being found out. The Mossad is probably the most sophisticated intelligence agency in the Middle East, if not the world. They wouldn’t be so clumsy as to be found out. The whole thing may have been an operation by someone who wants to provoke a war, say, to facilitate the return of the Mahdi*.

I thought I read where about 20 different Iranians were arrested over this incident. Were they flipped?
