Woman who fled Jewish Orthodox sect where 'impure' women are beaten and married to strangers at 16 reveals her ordeal - as its British members attend pro-Palestinian marches...

The men — all members of what has been described as an extremist sect called Neturei Karta — are among some of the most dedicated and controversial advocates for Palestine in the world.

They claim that they are the only 'authentic Rabbis' and that all 'true Jews' reject the existence of Israel.

But mainstream Jewish figures have condemned the group, dubbing them the 'Westboro Baptist Church of the Jewish community' after the Kansas sect most famous for demonstrating against homosexuality under the slogan 'God hates f*gs'.

While Westboro is thought to have fewer than 100 members, Neturei Karta — which also has outposts in Jerusalem and New York — is said to number several thousand people globally, with hundreds living in London.

They believe that the Holocaust was a punishment from God 'for the sins' of Jewish people, that Zionists 'may have' collaborated with Hamas to wage the October 7 massacre and that women are biologically destined to stay at home and rear children...

On arrival, we are met by Rabbi Beck and high-profile Neturei Karta activist Haim Sofer and ushered into a small office, its shelves stacked with hundreds of Jewish books or 'sefarim'.

As we are women, Rabbi Beck — who was born in Jerusalem in 1967 — struggles to meet our gaze.

According to Neturei Karta, God sent the Jews into exile in 70AD. Establishing the state of Israel, they argue, is an unholy rebellion against divine will.

Conveniently for the men, who were both born in Jerusalem, it is not against God's will for Jews to live in the region — just for the state to exist in its current form...

Although the headline mentions a woman who fled the community, any info about her is buried way deep in the article. The article is more about the group than about her.

Watch out for any religious nuts pretending to have a monopoly on Truth.

"God sent the Jews into exile in 70AD"

If God is the Roman Empire, you must accept their pantheon of false gods as well. So 'true jews' that reject the state of Israel are actually pagans.

Actually, the Bible does say that God sent the Assyrians to conquer Israel and the Babylonians to conquer Judah.

And the New Testament does indicate that God destroyed Jerusalem in AD 70 to punish those Jews who rejected Jesus.

Which is not to say the article's Jewish sect is right about most things.

What are you babbling about? THE lord has used pagans to do his bidding throughout the bible. The babylonian exile for instance.

Sadly there are such nuts in all religions. I remember some real weirdos in Christianity who claimed to be the Two Witnesses in Revelation who ended up shot on a bridge in Arkansas decades ago, another who started a cult in Northern Ireland, and eventually ended up in Jerusalem expecting to be one of the same Two Witnesses.
Then there are the mormons and their offshoots.
Now we see Jewish offshots.
But Moslems always stay the same, ready to kill you at a moment’s notice as happened in Armenia in the 1915-16, and already calling for the same in Britain, France, Germany and the US.

"And the New Testament does indicate"....

But does not specifically say. My interpretation is that Jesus only foretold about it. The fact is, Judea brought destruction upon itself when they rebelled against Rome. God may have allowed it to happen but I don't believe it was because of His will.

God may have removed his hand of protection and then foretold the events to occur as a result, but "used pagans to do his bidding???". That's your interpretation.

“But Moslems always stay the same”

There are quite a few Muslim sects. Many of them are quite pacifist.

The one that may be the most out there are the Ba’hai, which is a syncretic revelatory-syncretic religion that came out of Iranian Shiism. Very reasonable lot. Then the Ahmadis, a Sunni offshoot, also not given to violence and are easy for Christians to get along with. Then there are the Ismaili/Nizaris, a Shiite offshoot (the Aga Khan is their leader). Another innocuous lot. And more.

God exists beyond time- so when He permits something he also wills it in a way- even if it is only His respecting our free will and allowing the just consequences of our sins to fall upon us and our neighbors.

Unfortunately our English language is not great at conveying this and tends to confuse the issue.

You said it right when you said He also allows free will. So when you sin, or anyone else sins, is it because God wills it? Certainly not. It is because God has given us the ability to do things outside of His will. So I don’t buy into the idea that whatever happens, it is because God wills it.

Absolutely. Love (meaning Caritas or Agape not “Luv”) is not possible without free will.

“Love is not possible without free will”. That’s an interesting observation, actually.

All religions have them. People who think their worldly desires are most important; raping children and women.

God will sometimes use our "free will to sin" for His own purposes.

He often works with what He has, rather change the laws of the universe or human nature.

That's simply the way He often choses to operate.

MBS needs to lead a reformist movement in his Wahabbist sect in the House of Saud.
