Elon Musk’s embrace of Donald Trump can be traced in part to a snub by President Biden.
In early 2021, the new Biden administration began making plans to implement its campaign promises to boost electric vehicles.
At the time, Musk’s Tesla produced about two-thirds of the EVs on U.S. roads. But Tesla is also the only major U.S. car manufacturer that doesn’t have unionized factory workers, and some of its labor practices were under scrutiny by federal regulators.
Tesla officials reached out to the White House multiple times after the inauguration, hoping to connect Biden and Musk, according to people familiar with the matter. The Tesla boss, who said in a television interview that he voted for Biden—and has said he voted exclusively for Democrats until a few years ago—repeatedly got the cold shoulder.
The reason: Biden officials didn’t want to anger the powerful United Auto Workers union, which leaned on the White House to keep its distance from Musk, according to people familiar with the matter.
Then in August 2021, Biden organized an EV event, to be anchored by him signing an executive order with a target to make half of all new vehicles sold in 2030 zero-emissions vehicles.
Just ahead of the event, White House officials called Tesla with an apology: Musk wasn’t invited.

Really smart decision by Biden.
Funny and phony as all get-out.
As I recall, Biden also wanted to tie any tax rebates for EVs to their being built by union labor. You still see this. Being ‘green’ is supposedly existentially important, but only if it is union green.
There’s this, but there’s also the aspect that woke Democrats and his ex groomed one of his sons into going “trans”. I think this was just as important to his awakening, by my read of things.
Let’s face it. Anybody with an IQ over room temperature will eventually figure out that Democrat policies are stupid. The problem is eventually can take a lifetime.
This is something that I don’t think those on the Right or in power take seriously enough. Anyone connected to them is a target for the Left, and IS targeted.
It bothers me that Trump’s eldest son is engaged to Newsom’s X. I don’t pretend to know anything about it, but it sets off my radar.

I know some very smart people who still hew to the Democrat Party line. It's not question of intelligence. There is a lot more going on here.

I had to leave a group of very intelligent people because their politics became toxic to me, and my politics became toxic to them. After 25 years, I had to distance myself from them, as they became radical left.

Not always. It benefited Elon Musk to be a Democrat for a long time. Until he realized that the Biden Administration wanted to screw him over.
Democrats are alienating all the right people.

That’s because they all get stock options and end up stupid rich if their cars sell.
Bay Area is full of Tesla people buying up property for ridiculous prices because of that. Try getting a house on the beach in Santa Cruz and you’ll find out fast.
There are LOTS of women that look that good - LOTS. Anyone with the name Trump should have no difficulty taking his pick.
She liked Newsom enough to marry him - says damaged goods, to me.
He's a bit of a slow learner, however he does learn.
The question is, what does he do when he discovers the knives in his back?

I read post 8. Elon Musk is not a typical guy. He benefited from EV subsidies during the Obama Administration. At the time, he was happy to be a Democrat. He was making billions from Tesla. Republicans were not in favor of EV subsidies.
And also, all of Tesla customers are Democrats. Although, that may be changing now because I know some Democrats hate Elon Musk so they're not buying another Tesla vehicle.
Or he took the red pill.
