I was responding to the the guy who said the parents should be prosecuted. And that we all should have to have our guns "locked up and secured."
No offense taken. I understand your point, but...the fact that the parents called the police is not in any way speculation. That is a damning fact. I find that very telling.
And in my life experience, I think I have seen enough to have an accurate gut impression of what that actually means when a parent does that to a child. Now, it could be that they were afraid of their child, but if that is the case, the issue with the availability of firearms still stands.
I agree with you what I take to be your view on the last paragraph, the sentiment that we shouldn’t be calling for their prosecution at this point.
What we should be calling for is answers.
And depending on what those answers are, the decision on culpability should rest on what those indications are, not speculation.
