For the most part, we pretend that politics doesn’t exist when we get together. We concentrate our conversations on those things that made us friends. And it’s a planned approach.
We each have REDLINE areas in which the other can’t put a toe. It’s agreed that no liberal friend uses the word Trump in front of me. I, on the other hand, am not allowed to say Critical Race Theory in front of one of my friends. Since it’s a topic that would turn my stomach anyway, it makes for a good, continuing relationship.
