In the end, President Joe Biden exited the political stage in isolation.
After weeks of fighting for his political life – insisting he wasn’t going anywhere following a disastrous debate performance – the president’s about-face did not come in an Oval Office address or a speech on the campaign trail. Instead, it came in letter posted to social media as he recovered from Covid-19 at his beach house in Delaware.
It was a low-key way to reveal one of the most historic decisions in modern American politics, but time was not on Biden’s side to reach a decision or make an announcement. Never before has a president left a reelection race this close to Election Day – and for 24 days it seemed as if he were stubbornly planning to ride out the storm that followed the June 27 CNN debate in Atlanta.
He spent the three weeks after the debate repeating that he was staying in the race against former President Donald Trump. The president dug in. He insisted he could beat Trump. His inner circle shrank to his closest aides and family. He was forced to retreat to Delaware, where he reached a decision in the last day-and-a-half, finally conceding that a man loyal to the Democratic Party for more than a half-century was seen as a drag on the ticket.

UNpresidented? Lying Lyndon Johnson did the same when he chose not to run in 1968. Bobby Kennedy would have been the next elected President in 1968 until a PALESTINIAN IMMIGRANT shot him dead. So they threw Hubert Humphrey into the fray and got Nixon elected.

For example, last Thursday evening, the memo went out telling them that “the key word today is ‘rambling.’”

All the tricks of Republican propaganda cannot make the people forget that the Democratic Party has been working for their welfare.
We are working for the welfare of the farmer. We hold to the ideal that goes back to Jefferson, that a farmer should have the opportunity to own his farm, to share in the benefits of scientific progress, and to secure a fair income for his efforts.
The Democratic Party is working for the success of our free enterprise system. We have worked to prevent monopoly, to give the small businessman a fair chance, and to develop our natural resources for all the people, and not just for the favored few.
The Democratic Party is working for the welfare of labor. We have worked for good wages and hour legislation, for unemployment compensation, and for fair labor relations laws.

In the letter he is supposed to give a speech later in the week to address this issue.
After that, I see two options
Option 1 - Occasional campaign stops to introduce Harris and leave
Option 2 - Mayne seen once a week traveling between DC and DE, but not much more.
I hope that joe goes back out on the campaign trail.
That will be interesting. A farewell speech from a guy who will remain the President.
I look forward to the gaffes.
On Option 1, I can see them doing that once or twice then dropping it completely. It would look very weird for Kamala to have her boss, who is non compos mentis, introducing her.
