Not long ago, if Dems pulled out their knives and bared their teeth against one another, it meant they sensed zero threat from the right and were confident that who ever emerged on top would still be in a dominant position over the Republicans, too.
This last month is testing my theory. I’m amazed at the Left’s infighting while Republicans are undergoing an unprecedented unprecedented, rejuvenating rally. My theory suggests they should be putting aside their differences and coalesce around Brandon, whatever his disability. The media is still flying top cover for the Left. But the DNC army appears to buckling and on the verge of a self-inflicted rout.
They may yet be confident, deep-down, that their “most comprehensive and inclusive vote fraud organization in history” will still pull them through, whatever the matchup.
The people holding elected office in the GOP we’re not part of that enthusiasm and rejuvenation at the convention.
I didn’t see the likes of Mitch McConnell or John Cornyn yucking it up and smiling and clapping wildly for Trump or JD Vance, the way they would have for a Bush... back in the day (misty watercolor memories).
The convention felt more like a CPAC convention in 2021 after the stolen election energized young MAGA people who wanted to get involved on the grassroots level.
But now that the party’s over and everyone goes back to work, we’re still stuck with the same crappy GOP politicians who would have been just as happy as the Democrats to see Trump have his head blown off, and are every bit as dejected as the Democrats are right now. They’re just suffering in silence.
The poor fellas have had to endure three RNC conventions with the P#$$? grabber as the nominee, and his cult of Deplorables stinking up the joint.
If Trump wins, they know they’ll be called upon to try to hamstring him on their end as much as possible, like they did during his first term. And they will happily oblige....to save our democracy.
