MILWAUKEE - For four nights at Donald Trump's nominating convention in Milwaukee, a roster of speakers attempted to give one of the most divisive politicians in recent U.S. history a makeover, describing him as a loving and caring family man whose near-assassination at a rally on Saturday had changed him.
That new version of Trump lasted barely half an hour.
Then the Trump more familiar to Americans - the bombastic thrower of insults who revels in demonizing his opponents - re-emerged, trampling over the message of unity so painstakingly choreographed by the Republican National Committee this week.
In a rambling 92-minute address that broke the record for the longest convention speech in history, Trump called Democratic President Joe Biden the worst president in U.S. history and the former Democratic House Speaker "crazy Nancy Pelosi," and accused Democrats of launching judicial witch hunts against him and creating a "planet of war."
Using familiar hyperbolic and divisive language, he said illegal immigration to the United States was "the greatest invasion in history" and was leading to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans every year, though neither claim is supported by any data.
He painted a dark picture of a crumbling America, a nation in decline, its cities crime-ridden and economically depressed, a staple image of his stump speech in which he presents himself as the country's savior.
To be sure, Trump avoided some of the harshest language often deployed at his rallies. He usually relishes mocking Biden as an enfeebled president, but only mentioned him by name twice.
Trump returns to the campaign trail on Saturday.
Diehard supporters typically flock to his rallies to see Trump 1.0 - the man who mixes conspiracy theories with inflammatory rhetoric and threats of retribution against those he perceives to have wronged him.

Typical hit piece from a commie point of view.
Unifying to the means praising everything the Rats have done. If you say they are weaponizing the justice system, which they are, they scream, “Not unifying”. Let’s see if they hold themselves to that standard.
That describes Biden and the entirety of the political left, far more than it does Donald Trump.
reuters the British based die-hard over the top propaganda platform of the Deep State/Democrat party spreads its usual lies and invective about President Trump pretending he is the one who demonizes his opponents while conveniently ignoring the fact that it is his opponents who have done that with him to a vastly greater extent.
Trump is no more “divisive” than anybody who doesn’t go along with the Establishment....which itself is extremely divisive. One of the key ways it seeks to maintain its power is in dividing people along race and gender lines so they don’t notice what horrible unpopular policies the Establishment has foisted on them.
Far from “trampling” the Republican Party, Trump has transformed it into a party that represents the concerns and the desires of a majority of voters.
Duckduckgo.com and search.brave.com promise privacy but their results seem not to differ much from the blatantly Deep State affiliated search engines like Google or Bing.

If there is one, I am unaware of it.
I have noticed the same problem, and I think it’s because these search engines don’t have petabytes of their own stored internet indexing. They rely on google basically. I’m not exactly sure how they do that without alphabet suing them.
I just did a test using the search terms “trump convention” in duckduckgo, and here is the list of the sites that it returned, in order;

See how far down you had to go to get a non left leaning website???
The top of the leftist pyramid are sick sociopaths with a hunger for power that most of us can’t possibly understand.
I wasn’t thrilled with his speech. And please understand, this is just about campaigning, not his character.
After his stunning feistiness and bravery after being shot; it would be easy to slam one out of the park. Such near misses! I thought he was brilliant to point out how the spectators didn’t stampede while I thought the intent was to point out the excellent character of his supporters, but he made that about himself. His callback to the gospel about laying down one’s life for his friends should’ve been an inspiring promise to never stop fighting, and instead came off like self-deification.
Message to Tim Reid (D-Reuters): you haven’t seen anything yet.
Your total destruction is imminent. Your entire world is coming to an end. In 6 months, you globohomo’s, the Deep state and the propaganda media are going to be exterminated like cockroaches. It is going to be glorious.
Remember, this is Reuters making this report. More of a spin machine than an actual journalist agency, they have simply ignored the very real demonstration of divine intervention, and the very disciplined response of the REAL President to a moment of horrible reality. When he got up, with the assistance of the Secret Service, he was filled with a righteous anger and showed his defiance to the negativity that has been arrayed against him since he first began his quest for the Presidency.
But at his core, Trump remains the person he always was, a person of integrity, empathy and compassion, who can in turn also be rude, crude and mightily shrewd, as the occasion may call for.
Trump is anything BUT the cartoon Reuters tries to make him out to be.
Like most of the corporate media, this guy has a serious case of TDS. The hypocrisy from shills like Reid is beyond expression. Where's Reid's outrage when his democrat friends call Trump and MAGA: Hitler; Threat to democracy; Facist; Put Trump in the bullseye; Trump should be “eliminated”; "Trump will end our country as we know it."Trump creates concentration camps";"Trump must be stopped at all cost"....
Reid and his democrat friends have been gaslighting Americans far too long. Hopefully, enough Americans have finally come to realize they've been used and lied to by the democrat party.
Despite our despicable press, the greatest threat to the 2024 election will be voter fraud and illegals voting - IMHO. Sadly, I see little confidence that the R party has been able to mitigate these democrat enablers.
Here in the PA State House (PA General Assembly, not Congress), I am represented by a republican representative and republican senator. I receive their newsletters. Bear in mind that individual states are responsible for voting rules in their respective state. Despite my many correspondences to my state reps on the subject, voter fraud and illegals who vote is NEVER mentioned their newsletters. Feckless and indifferent comes to mind! This lack of concern over voter fraud at the republican STATE level may cost Trump the election. I pray not.
Haha. That’s not the speech I heard.
Political speeches are not meant to be bedtime stories.
President Trump was emphatic; determined, as well as humble and grateful.
BTW.. so glad he talked in detail about the shooting. Very therapeutic. His doctors must be on the lookout for PTSD.
I am pretty sure that remark about laying down your life was for the deceased firefighter
yandex.com seems to allow you to escape Google’s biases and manipulations. It replaces them with Russian biases and manipulations, though.
” the bombastic thrower of insults who revels in demonizing his opponents”
But they salivated over Dark Brandon...
don’t you remember the meida talking points after his 2016 RNC speech?? “It was a dark speech...it was dark....very dark...incredibly dark”
This entire article is a lie to promote a false agenda.
His speech was the exact opposite of this.
But that will be the media will tell.
Back before the internet and we could find out the truth.
This is the same ol’, same ol’. They are scared outsider Trump will expose their evil deeds.
Better yet, go for a walk in Central Park or ride the subway.
