Diversity is our strength and all that, and we all saw it in our social studies books back in seventh grade: smiling children, all carefully chosen to represent a smorgasbord of races and ethnicities, happily playing together without a care in the world. A recent incident in Queens, N.Y., however, shows how our indefatigable commitment to diversity really works in practice.
The New York Post reportedSaturday that “a NYC taxi driver was hit with a hate crime [charge] for allegedly beheading a statue depicting a young Jesus outside a Queens Catholic church, prosecutors said.” The iconoclast who did the deed was one Jamshaid Choudhry, who lives in Hollis, Queens. “Jamshaid” is a Persian name that is common among Muslims in central and south Asia. Choudhry “was arrested Thursday night and charged with criminal mischief as a hate crime and other related crimes for allegedly decapitating the statue outside of the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Fresh Meadows on June 30.”

For the record, Islam permits tolerance of Christians and Jews as “people of the book,” so long as they pay their jiziyyah and are regularly humiliated. It’s “idolators,” such as Hindus and animists, who must be murdered wherever they find them. I don’t know if this applies to Buddhists and Taoists, because they don’t require any deity at all. They just thank Buddha for his teachings, or believe that the entire universe is one aggregate organism with which one must harmonize oneself, or something.

It was still an incredible statement of hatred. That matters. Of course, the crazy thing is that Muslims love telling Christians how much they love Jesus, too.

I understand your theological point, but this is hatred and a far too typical expression of Muslim supremacy, contempt, and entitlement.
If he is not throughly crushed, the next step is beheading people.
Islam is an infection and should never be allowed to thrive or spread in any Western country. Too late, I suspect.
They might, but they have a problem with statues and images, and also deifying him. For that reason, they go bat-sh!t over any portrayal of Muhammed, which is why they attacked that French satire magazine and killed about twelve people.
I am not defending Islam, just clarifying what it is they are thinking, those of them that think.
It’s conditional tolerance. So long as they aren’t p!ssed off about something, they’re tolerant to dhimmes.
On the other hand, I have devoutly Muslim friends from my days in Judah and Samariah, and my son’s Arab neighbors in Hadar make him coffee most mornings, and bandaged up my wife’s arm when she fell on the steps while walking over to them. It all depends. They’re very complex people.
