Interesting. There’s an element of luck to shooting an iconic picture like this one, but the best of ‘em find a way to be in the right place at the right time, and they need to be able to still pay attention to camera angle, etc., even in the heat of the moment.

True there is an element of luck. But Evan Vucci is a professional with years and tens of thousands of photographs to his credit. His experience and professionalism made his own luck. And he didn't care about politics in the moment; he just followed his instincts.
