US President Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19, the White House confirmed on Wednesday evening after CNN and other media outlets reported the diagnosis.
Word of the diagnosis came approximately an hour and a half before Biden was expected to speak at the UnidosUS conference in Las Vegas.
“I was just on the phone with President Biden. And he shared his deep disappointment at not being able to join us this afternoon. The President has been at many events as we all know and he just tested positive for COVID,” Janet Murguía, president and CEO of UnidosUS, told attendees.
The President’s doctor said Biden has received his first dose of Paxlovid, and will be self-isolating at his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
“The President presented this afternoon with upper respiratory symptoms, to include rhinorrhea (runny nose) and non-productive cough, with general malaise,” a note from Biden’s doctor provided by White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.
“He felt okay for his first event of the day, but given that he was not feeling better, point of care testing for COVID-19 was conducted, and the results were positive for the COVID-19 virus,” added the doctor.

The biden camp had been hinting at a face saving out for joe and covid fits the bill along with his statement only a health condition diagnosis would force him out, so there it is. Now there will probably be a white house doctor declaration that he must drop out and not imperil his fragile old man health.

No that is much too soon, if he really is sick and drops out, they will move heaven and earth to make sure he lasts until October, or weekend at Bernies him until then.
Covid can be hella severe for the elderly, remember all those nursing home deaths in NY, and Mi.

Maybe at one time. The elderly place near me had no one die, and one person went to the hospital a couple months ago. A couple months ago a bunch of residents got it, but except for one it was minor.
Exactly the sort of election that this confused, mixed up, contradictory, and unstable country deserves.

I’m just connecting the dots: Dem power brokers want Biden out now. Once he is out would like to use him as much as they can to get some sympathy votes for whoever replaces him. “Lets win this one for Joe” kinda stuff.
Do we get to jump up and down hoping for him to kick the bucket like the left did when Trump got COVID?

That said, with the desperation the left has it wouldn’t surprise me if he did magically ‘succumb to his illness’.
Donors want him out. But, as an incumbent, he may have the best chance. And who would want to waste their chance on an already longshot election?
It’s more than the Donors. His support is crumbling, Schumer and Shiffty today, I also read today it was 2/3rds of the democrats now wanting him out.
Yes it is a longshot, but for someone like Kamala, it would be her only shot. She’ll never be on another presidential ticket.
And isn’t just so convenient that Kamala’s husband had covid on July 6...
