Will Surviving Gunfire Be Donald Trump’s Next Appeal To Black Voters?

I am a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) expert.

Will Trump seize the apparent assassination attempt against him as an opportunity to meaningfully address the epidemic of gun violence in America? Will he deem unacceptable the dangers to which citizens are exposed as they go to schools, places of religious worship, concerts, movie theaters, supermarkets, shopping malls, sporting events, and now, presidential campaign rallies? It’s possible, but unlikely.

Butler is less than an hour north of Pittsburgh. It isn’t an urban center. But many big cities in which large numbers of Black Americans reside have long been plagued with inexcusably high levels of gun violence. Everytown Research and Policy’s analysis of 2018-2022 FBI data shows that Black people in Pittsburgh are 14 times more likely to die by gun homicide than are whites in the place affectionately known as “the Steel City.”

On the other side of the commonwealth, Philadelphia’s gun homicide rate was 30.8 fatalities per 100,000 residents in 2022. Blacks comprise the city’s single-largest racial group. They’re five times more likely to die by gunfire than are whites. Milwaukee, where this year’s Republican National Convention is being held, has the sixth-highest homicide by firearm rate in the nation. There, Blacks are 6.7 times more likely to be shot and killed than are white residents.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee has repeatedly contended that the August 2023 release of his criminal mugshot deeply resonated with Black voters because they know firsthand the unfairness of our nation’s criminal justice system. He has since relied on that narrative to persuade more Black Americans to cast votes for him this November.

LOL. I understand and get it. Didn't mean to step on anyone's toes. Ouch.

Check out this FR thread: Black comedian: Is Trump my uncle?

You should be able to turn on the closed captioning marked CC. The closed captioning works for me.

Re-fund the police, then. Short-handed and trying to avoid trouble from BLM activists and gangsters, they under-police black neighborhoods.

It is a ridiculous premise. Most black people are not exposed to gunfire. Dumb.

Maybe so but they think they are, and from cops, thanks to the media. Black lives only matter if the shooter is an LEO.

“Most black people are not exposed to gunfire.”
^

The majority of American blacks live in cities.

Which is the case in Miami. I lived near now-gentrified “black” Coconut Grove which, with their long-established black churches and cemeteries, was surrounded by whites and Hispanics. It was a hotbed of criminality and shootings.

Living there, everyone was “exposed to gunfire”. They may not have witnessed a bullet zinging past their heads, but could tell backfires and fireworks from a gunshot.

Even today, citywide sensors all over this country detect and trianguate gunshots for accurate police responses.

Trump continuing to seek the Presidency again after such an incredibly close shave with death should cause anyone still on the fence, not just black voters, to support him. It should cause them to ask themselves why a billionaire with a luxurious lifestyle and a supermodel wife would continue to subject himself to horrendous treatment at the hands of the demonic Left and now continue to do so even after nearly being killed (and continuing to face the risk of that happening). If anyone had any doubt about Trump’s incomparable love for America and his willingness to sacrifice his own comfort and even his very life for this country’s survival, his walking out onto that convention stage this week and accepting the Republican party’s nomination should dispel every last doubt. There is no other explanation for him even being there after what happened. Any lesser person would have thrown in the towel long ago, and certainly after the horrific events of Saturday.

I hope the reports that Trump has rewritten his speech to soften attacks on Biden are not true, because he is in an extraordinarily strong position to make a clear distinction between Biden, the bumbling coward who only seeks the presidency to protect his family grifting operation, and himself, who has nothing to gain and everything to lose personally, but yet continues on only to selflessly serve his country

So is the author telling us that blacks or black Americans have a copyright on what a raised fist means?

I do not know and never have even heard of the dumbass LIEberal dingbat that wrote this article, but it offends me, BIGLY!

President Trump will use this (FAILED!) assassination attempt (PRAISE THE LORD THAT IT DID!) to unify OUR FREE REPUBLIC AROUND REAL AMERICAN VALUES, IRRESPECTIVE OF EVERYTHING BUT WHAT AMERICA IS: “. . . ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!”

I have never seen a more damning admission of utter and complete personal worthlessness.

I didn’t say anything about him publicly appealing to them. I wondered if it would have an impact.

There was, however, a time when blacks weren’t “exposed to gunfire”.

That's a good clip. I grew up at a time when the black communities were fairly stable with no gun
violence, and mom and dad were raising the kids. Then LBJ and the "Great Society" destroyed all that.
