President Biden is slated to hold a press conference Thursday evening at the NATO summit in Washington, D.C.
The high-stakes moment comes as Biden faces mounting calls from fellow Democrats to step aside in the presidential race and amid scrutiny from the news media over his past health disclosures.
The rare solo press conference from Biden will close out the NATO summit, where the president has hosted world leaders this week. Biden’s standing in the presidential race against former President Trump has largely overshadowed this week’s summit.
The event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. EDT.

moments after the news conference, Jim Himes, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, says he should step aside.
Himes represents a southern Connecticut district that he’s held for 15 years.
Biden won Himes’ district by 29 points.
Listening on the same. They noted Vice-President Trump. But full court press defense.
It was very bad, on the verge of a total disaster but not fully. About 3 or 4 talking points dems can use, and about a dozen that were godawful for him and his base.
He is exhibiting an illogical flow of thought. When he loses it, we get “ well anyway” and he trails off. He’s trying to defend himself, but never answers a question in a manner that leads to a logical conclusion. He’s got brain damage from cerebral vascular disease which he’s had for a long time, but it’s getting progressively worse. This is excruciating for him and he’s not really comprehending the questions. Everything he says is to defend himself.
Part of the time he makes sense on yes and no topics, but he’s displaying circumstantiality-which includes extremely excessive detail and never makes his point leading to no conclusion. Then he displayed anger when he feels his ego has been threatened.
Physically, he can smile if he wants to, but other parts of his face are frozen from botox injections.
He will be VERY resistant to stepping aside, due to his current state of dementia as a result of progressive cerebral vascular disease. He needs a cognitive exam from a physician who specializes in geriatric psychiatry-not a neurologist.
How do those people who backstabbed Biden back it off?
