Are those batteries lighter than an internal combustion engine?

I keep hearing how some EV vehicles, like the Teslas, are rather heavy and chew up tires. For a racing vehicle, there is a lot of weight to deal with.

EV tires wear out about 30% faster than other tires. They also cost more and they shed chemical pollution at a higher rate than regular tires. The heavier cars also cause more road wear.
