Can’t wait to see them going into the pit to charge.

I thought of that as well but maybe it could be a good thing to have some innovative ways to change the batteries more quickly.

However, the biggest concern to me is the cost of the batteries and how long before they have to be replaced costing the owner many, many bucks. Not a problem for race car teams but a huge problem for the average owner.

Ha.

Great use of the technological miracle of electric motors.

Remember the cheating scandal in the Soap Box Derby that inspired this National Lampoon Magazine cover?

They haven’t run a Coca Cola 600 since stage racing debuted.
Now, they’re just heat races, all added up. I really dislike the format, and quit watching when it began.
The Daytona 500 and Coke 600 used to be something special. No more.

I agree. Dale Sr. was the man. I continued following Jr. After he left, I haven’t watched much. It is dying. The EV’s will finish it off.

LOOK UP the INDY CAR RACE from OHIO last weekend-—

“HYBRID” cars-—OLD & electric.

DIXON was out with complete failure of the electrical system before the green flag.

When the cars come into the pits-—they have to e shut off & RESTARTED with old style starter shafts because battery cannot restart them.....

I cannot imagine the BILLIONS of $$$$$$$ they have spent to get this far.

AND-—the communications between cars & pits were FULL of static.

As would the human being drivers. Sheesh. That is quite a possibility— asphalt catches fire from thermite like lithium battery fire inextinguishable with water (makes the fire worse with the reaction to metal lithium).

Why not just switch to cellulosic alchohol made from plant stems, leaves etc— also known as methanol a major fuel used in dragsters. And it burns far cleaner than ethanol. Which was what was said when ethanol was proposed— by the uh... corn lobby. We make fertilizer from imported crude oil to grow corn to ferment to make ethanol. Drove and has driven the price of corn up for years, as well as high fructose corn syrup vs. cane sugar or beet sugar as food processed sweetener additive.

This is thanks to the corn lobby (Bob Dole,RIP). GWBush tried briefly to champion methanol-— the corn lobby quashed the whole idea. People could have collected their yard trimmings for “recycling” in massive national amount to yield more methanol than ethanol. This was tried to be conveyed- how it would work, and industry adapt rapidly.

Not concern about the weight. Physics is hard, I get it.

The new NASCAR electrical appliance cars will emit loud realistic race engine sounds through amplified built in speakers.

Tim O'Neil has driven an EV for years in the oldest auto race in the USA, Climb to the Clouds to the top of Mount Washington, New Hampshire.

It has a very annoying beeper to alert people he is approaching.

The switch is on a front fender, so the "start" person turns it on just before he goes and can't reach it to turn it off.

EVs in NASCAR are inevitable...

...Sorry, just the facts. It’s got nothing to do with politics or wokeness. EVs are faster, and accelerate quicker.

We still have horse races, don't we?

Yes, they just ran at my local track PIR in Portland. The result? Their best laptimes were slower than some SCCA classes.

To their credit they REALIZE that they’re so, so they run them on street tires, and typically screw with the track layouts where they can so that jacklegs like me can’t make the comparison. Word has it that they tightened up turns 1 & 2 at PIR so as to have another way of stopping the public from seeing how slow the cars are.

Restrictor plates is when I started to not pay attention. I loved the super speedways. Dale Earnhardt finally won Daytona then, died there a few years later. Then they got woke and here comes a black driver named Bubba. Then the FBI is snooping around the pits and garage and found the very 1st noose in the history of the sport! Football and BBall are taking knees. The football boycott came around and made it real easy to want to ignore the races. Bunch of fags ruined a good thing.

No no no, they can’t do THAT. Everyone knows the EV car will be heavier, which means performance will be less as it’ll eat the tires up in no time, and the batteries/motors get hot and have to slow down or stop. Not to mention that the races will have to be shortened because of battery capacity. (Unless they swap cars like the early days of Formula E, or develop some sort of janky battery swap technology). For 0-60 runs electric cars are awesome. Longevity is the problem right now.
