Then they will have disenfranchised the voters based on their personal whim.
That wouldn't be a very good "democratic" message.
The Trump campaign needs to turn this narrative back around on these people.
He needs to point out that if the presidential term lasted for 5 or 6 years instead of 4 years, and Biden didn’t have to debate him until 2025 or 2026, they would have been perfectly fine with a mentally incapacitated president for the next year or two, and equally fine with the media and the political class covering it up.
And therefore, nobody should give a rat’s ass what these people consider to be “a threat to our democracy”, if they don’t think that that in itself is a threat to our democracy.
Then they will have disenfranchised the voters based on their personal whim.
But in reality, do you think the primary voters for Biden were voting for him (against mainly unknown, if any, opponents) or out of loyalty to the democrat team? Do you think that people who voted in democrat primaries for Biden will vote for anyone other than a democrat in the Presidential election?
always hated the fact that Rush legitimized such a one as this by acknowledging its pitiful existence.
What a clown.
How dare he call himself ‘a God’. He’s to be totally ignored.
In reality, legal primary votes were cast. The pledged delegates were specifically selected and appointed to represent those votes at the convention.
If the delegates go a different direction then the Demonrats should first hold another primary open to the original voters to determine the new allocation.
Otherwise, it is purely and simply a disenfranchisement of voter intent.
Constitutionally the state legislature can appoint any slate of electors they want! They can completely ignore voters’ intent. Nothing in the constitution about voters’ intent and electors.
I’m not disagreeing with your ideas of what might be right morally or ethically in regards to Biden’s pledged delegates. I’m just saying that if enough of the dems decide it’s time for Biden to be dropped, they’ll find a way to do it pledged delegates or no.
Thank you.
I couldn’t have said it better.
Started seeing him on "The Kennedy Show" a few years ago - could not see why people go "Ooohhh" over him. He's a mental midget.
Funny……
I guess we are like minded!
Agreed. But the "Democratic" messaging sure wouldn't look good. I, as a voter, would feel completely disenfranchised - which I would be.
Since it’s the state legislature Constitutional duty\requirement to appoint the electors with no outside input. So, technically you were never enfranchised. You’ve been allowed through tradition to think you have been.
After a lifetime of watch presidential election devolve into an expensive bad circus of democracy farce, I think I now completely support the Founders original system of deciding the president. I understand why they advocated it. In the Constitution the newly elected state legislatures meet and appoint the electors. These electors meet, debate etc., and select the president, vice president. (They do all this but it’s “pro forma” now!) It would be cheaper and faster likely less corrupt than what we do now. Also, it would be no less democratic than how countries with parliamentary choose their PMs.
