I agree with Justice Sotomayor that shooting criminals in self defense is an excellent idea!

Hooray for Justice Sotomayor!

“Did he not double-tap? “

He fired four times through the window. His buddy got out of another car and also fired.

His car was in danger...not Sotomayor.

Do we know the location?

In what part of DC did this occur?

IF this “Bodyguard isn’t qualified to drop ANY perp with one shot-—then he needs to be replaced”.

Did you read the complaint attached to the article? The van with the accused perpetrator pulled up alongside the "government vehicle" and the perp jumped out and pointed the gun at the complainant through the car window. The way it reads, assuming it was a car and not a SUV, would be shooting *up* and through glass at an angle where he may not have been able to see the head of the perp. That's a bad angle on a very close-range shot. Catching him in the mouth with a round or a round and glass is a likely outcome.

I'm not sure what scenarios you train for, but unholstering your weapon in a car and immediately firing through glass and making contact (though not killing the perp) is a good outcome that doesn't offer much indication of how qualified the bodyguard is at using his weapon.

11th Street, NW. It's in the complaint attached to the article.

Anyone else does that in DC to a carjacker, they’ll be thrown into the DC jail and then the key and the cell will be thrown away.

Did Sonia telling her bodyguard to go on a shooting spree after her dissent in the Trump immunity case?

So basically the US Marshall employed Texas rules instead of DC rules. If this is allowed to stand, everyone arrested over shooting to protect property can cite this case and raise selective prosecution concerns.

I don’t see it as protecting his property at that distance. There’s no guarantee that if he gave up the car that he wouldn’t be shot anyway. In the complaint the complainant stated that he was wearing a US Marshal polo at the time of the incident. While I agree that everyone should be able to defend themselves from being carjacked, when a clearly-armed suspect points their weapon at you, it’s no longer about the property they want to take.

I remember that. She totally blindsided him with that - all he was there for was to plug a book. That’s it.

Shameless doesn’t begin to describe it.

This suggests an idea for an action comedy movie like the Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard. I can see it now The Guard for the Car used by the Wide Latina Judge's Bodyguards.

Very misleading headline. Doesn’t seem like the carjacker knew anything about Sotomayor, he was just after the car.

The car becomes a weapon once the carjacker gets it, so it's never about property they want to take.

And yet Antifa was allowed to run wild at ‘conservative’ Justices’ homes when they were ‘protesting’.
