My wife and I were talking about a vacation this morning and I told her it needed to be somewhere within driving distance for just this reason. Boeing is having some issues, but you're still far less likely to die in a plane than a car. There are, of course, other good reasons to prefer car travel over plane travel.

Somehow I’m just not motivated to die in a “less likely” manner.

There are, of course, other good reasons to prefer car travel over plane travel. Indeed!
Before 9/11 I didn’t mind air travel but after the number of issues I have with air travel multiplied.

But it's much more dangerous to drive on the highway.
So it's silly to pretend that driving is safer than flying.
