It’s not at all clear how Populists got labeled Far Right.
Populism is the threat to uniparty elites, and it is to stop their erasure that this coalition formed.
Populism is one of those things that opponents to it paint as evil, and those opponents are everywhere — because populism will eliminate their positions. This is why Trump faces the Dems and the GOPe.
The one, single advantage Trump’s populism has over France’s is that the GOPe are about 5% of the party. Not a third of the electorate as is so in France, declaring themselves centrists. Don’t be surprised when they have no trouble doing deals with the leftists in France. And don’t be surprised that Macron keeps his job.
The word “Populist” is used like the word “Fascist”, it describes anything a Communist disagrees with.
