Both American and French revolutions were revolutions against the tyranny of the "elites' of their time. Both were very bloody because those in power do not give it up easily. Tyranny of the elites is what we're witnessing today on a global level. History has a way of repeating itself. Klaus may want to remember this.
Except that the French Revolution was democratic, in the worst sense of the word. It was based on mob rule with no built in protections for individual rights. The American Revolution was republican from the start. It relied on the consensus (i.e. The Continental Congress) of existing institutions (i.e. state governments), rather than on burning everything to the ground and starting over from scratch.
