Trump is also considering an agreement under which NATO would pledge not to expand eastward.
Russia doesn't want NATO to expand and be on its border. Yet, if Putin does win, he'll be expanding westward and be on the border with a NATO country.
Anywho, if Trump does start negotiating with Putin to allow him to keep part of Ukraine, he'll be getting on the wrong side of the American allies in Europe.
And, if surrendering Ukraine territory becomes part of the Trump agenda for the campaign, he'll likely lose some support and he will be featured in democrat advertising as a foreign policy failure for surrendering territory which he has no right to negotiate on behalf of Ukraine.

Hasn’t Putin already expanded westward by holding Kaliningrad Oblast? Kaliningrad is sandwiched between Poland and Lithuania, so what is the problem regarding Ukrain or Georgia membership. Merely that greedy Putin wants them. His argument is completely false and self-serving.
