It’s a no win situation for the corrupt Bragg cabal. If they sentence him to jail he will win the election. It will be proof that the democrats will jail their political opponents. Their “convicted felon” thing failed miserably. Their best hope now is that this just disappears.

There are so many legal and constitutional absurdities in this indictment and trial that Trump’s efforts to toss the verdict has virtually nothing to do with the recent Supreme court decision. The question is where must the motion first be heard and can Trump exhaust his appeals before Mechan tries to imprison him.

Is this originating from the prosecutor or is it in response to a defense request?

Response to request.

I’d like to see the statute governing personal financial records and the statute governing illegal NDA agreements.

FROM NYTimes:

Although the Manhattan case does not center on Mr. Trump’s presidency or official acts — but rather personal activity during his campaign — his lawyers argued on Monday that prosecutors had built their case partly on evidence from his time in the White House. And under the Supreme Court’s new ruling, prosecutors not only cannot charge a president for any official acts, but also cannot cite evidence involving official acts to bolster other accusations.

For new adminstration, after new administration, DA’s routinely submitted resignations on day 1, assuming they’d be replaced as the President’s key law enforcers around the country. Most were.

Trump caught flak (he’s a Republican doncha’ know) for attempting to do what all had done before, so he backed off a bit, IIRC. Mistake.

Not to be repeated.

I am puzzled by Bragg’s motivation here as this appears D’s only chance to get Trump confined, unless they’re worried about even worse public reaction which hasn’t concerned them heretofore.

Do that to Fani and she will come out unharmed. Even gorillas have standards.

Do you mean U.S. Attorneys? They are appointed by the President.

Alvin Bragg is the elected district attorney for New York County (Manhattan), New York. His office is supposed to prosecute state crimes, not federal crimes.

Yes, my error...remembering Bragg was elected “to get Trump”.

I checked the list of 94. US district attorneys...and not one name I recognize, even in my home state.

Puzzled by this, but Bragg’s motive may be to push sentencing/confinement/jail closer to election and early voting.

The closer this happens to the election, the more political it will look.

Liberal tears are sweet.
The records were correctly categorized. Merchan refused to hear expert testimony in this area because the assertions of the prosecutor would have been exposed as false.

“””I’d like to see the statute governing personal financial records and the statute governing illegal NDA agreements.””

Only New York judges can see it. They have special glasses or something.
