The US had missiles in Turkey which were removed as part of the deal made to resolve the Cuban missile crisis.
Supposedly. NATO country Turkey had W warheads at Incirlik AFB, supposedly removed at the time of the “coup” against Erdogan.
Fact is, the Soviets removed the Cuban missiles when the US informed them that Che’ Guevara was trying to get control of them and fire them at the US! Soviets weren’t having any ot that— and in pure fear of the interdiction of their chain of command.
