“Ally” of Putin is a stretch. Not an enemy might be more accurate. If there’s going to be any negotiated conclusion to this it will take an interlocutor who has avoided taking a side.

Right. In many ways Orbán is like Trump. Both leaders put their country first. But since Orbán is not a NATO stooge, he must be an ally of Russia.
Exactly, if Orban is pro Russia why did the communists in Hungary try so hard to replace him with someone who actually is soft on Russia?
