Woodward and Bernstein didn’t “break” the scandal, if that means they were pro-active in investigating and reporting. They were two lazy-ass left-wing “journalists” (is that redundant?) who happily received information fed to them like Pablum. Because of that, they’re heroes?

I disagree.... and may I strongly recommend the book ‘Silent Coup’ as a start to get a much better picture of what went on. I have zero doubt that Woodward and Bernstein were not acting as ‘reporters’ at all in this sad chapter of American history... https://www.watergate.com/
