Trump has presumptive immunity for pressuring Pence to overturn 2020 election

Former President Trump has presumptive immunity for pressuring then-Vice President Mike Pence to subvert the results of the presidential election in his favor by certifying slates of so-called “fake electors” on Jan. 6, 2021, the Supreme Court ruled Monday.

The determination came within the justices’ highly anticipated opinion on presidential immunity, in which they ruled that core presidential powers are immune from criminal prosecution. The decision returns Trump’s federal election interference case back to a lower court to decide whether his actions leading up to Jan. 6 merit the protection.

“Congress cannot “override” the US Constitution. Whatever power it grants the President of the Senate, it cannot be constrained by simple statute law.”

So, the VP can elect to present only the slates he wants even though they are not certified by the states?

ROTFLMAO!

The President of the Senate shall, in the Presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the Certificates, and the Votes shall then be counted.

Nope. He has actual power inherent in the position. It is not a rubber stamp for corrupt proceedings. It is the last safeguard of the process.

Even if I believed your incorrect understanding was right, he could have, at the very least, said "This is corrupt, and I *WILL NOT* be a part of this corrupt process!"

But that would require a man, not a little coward bitch like Pence.

Here is that attempt to present a "false choice" again. He could have tossed the whole rotten pile to the House of Representatives, and Trump would have won by a landslide.

But Pence was a little coward bitch who couldn't act like a real man.

God forbid anyone should put pressure on poor Mike Pence!
Pressure. That’s almost as bad as “shaming” or “dehumanizing” someone. I hope Pence wasn’t too traumatized by the whole experience.

BTW, the Left uses a term like “pressure” to make it seem as if Pence was threatened in some way or prevented from taking a particular course of action. Obviously, that’s not the case. Pence ignored Trump’s “pressure” and went against Trump’s wishes.

“Subvert” It was Pence’s legal responsibility to question an election where there were so many witnesses on record claiming voter fraud.

For not protecting the rights of Americans to have a free and fair election when it was his responsibility and role.
Once there was a question of fraud or impropriety Pence had a duty to be sure the question was answered. Asking the states to investigate & confirm was within his purview. Pence played politics instead of doing his job.

For filling the constitution?

TexasGator, did you mean “fulfilling,” or “following?”

Pence did exactly as he was instructed, and still does.

Pence did not have that authority nor did he have knowledge of which states cheated.

If the Vice President didn't have the authority, why did the pass legislation to take that authority away from him?

You can't read?   I never said the VP passes legislation.   I said legislation was passed.
