They call an Ed.D. a doctorate even if most of them are a joke as far as contributions to knowledge.

I've known a couple of professors who had Ed.D.'s rather than Ph.D.'s for whatever reason but did real dissertations. One of them, now retired, had a 40-page article on a Civil War topic published a couple of years ago in The Journal of Military History which is a reputable journal (his field is actually geology rather than history).

From what I have heard of Jill's thesis it was below even the usual standards for an Ed.D.
