Does the US President really possess such powers to cancel or suspend Presidential and other elections in any circumstances? Wouldn’t Lincoln have rather not had the election during the civil war here but it happened anyway? Curious and have no Constitutional knowledge on this. Thanks for any further opinions.

I don’t think so. If they stick with Biden, and Trump wins, Dems sit back and win control of congress in two years. Trump signs anything put in front of him because he wants to be “liked”, so that’s a win for dems. If the economy crashes like many are predicting, it will be on Trump. A Dem replaces him in four years and they will have control for another 8-12 years.
If they replace Biden for this election with someone articulate, likeable, and fresh, dems will win. The only reason it’s currently a close race is because most Americans don’t like either candidate. Biden has poor health, high inflation, uncontrolled borders, freakish perverts running around the White House, and it’s still a close race. It shouldn’t be. The GOP chose poorly.
