Then they can say the audio and video feed was lost.

Happened today when Lara Trump had just started to talk on Glenn Beck.
“I’ve been informed we’ve lost our entire phone bank. This is a mess.”

That happened on a famous case on the old Coast to Coast am (long before I ever heard of it.). The caller was at a phone booth near some desert outpost reporting on something strange. He said he wasn’t supposed to tell anybody but....
And the entire region blanked out of all phone service. No reason was ever found.
