I can guarantee that no Democrat will get lower than 40% of the vote in our lifetime and that if it is a two way race no Democrat will get below 45% either.

There are so many people that vote based on getting free stuff from the government.

The thing is, the country is actually split into roughly thirds, Dem-Ind-Rep.

The Democrat voters may ritualistically vote as you say, but the independents may make a strong lurch to the Republicans after tonight.
