I've got one grown kid who paid off all her loans and another kid who is so far behind he'll never see the light of day...he's been basically paying interest and has a huge debt....

if we are giving illegals free college, I think we can forgive loans to real Americans who have attempted to pay and are good citizens otherwise.....

Excellent. Tax the universities’ endowments as personal income, 40%. That should help defray some of the cost too.
