Donald Trump has selected his running mate for the 2024 presidential campaign.
During a rally in Philadelphia on Saturday, Trump revealed that he has selected his vice presidential candidate. Sounds exciting, right? Well, there's a bit of a catch. Trump didn't reveal the identity of his pick, but gave a major hint.
When asked by NBC News during a Philadelphia campaign stop whether he has decided on his vice presidential pick, Trump responded, "in my mind, yeah," adding that the person will “most likely” be at Thursday’s debate against President Joe Biden.
"They'll be there," he continued. "I think we have a lot of people coming."
Trump said that “nobody knows” his choice yet. NBC News has previously reported that Trump is zeroing in on Doug Burgum, JD Vance and Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., as possible top contenders for the slot.
Sources familiar with the selection process told NBC News that Burgum, the governor of North Dakota, and Vance, an Ohio senator, are considered the top two finalists. Rubio is still being considered, though a constitutional hiccup would require that either Trump or Rubio establish residency outside of Florida.
Trump senior adviser Brian Hughes said in a statement that the campaign's top criterion for selecting a running mate “is a strong leader who will make a great President for eight years after his next four year term concludes.”
Trump said that he'll announce his pick "right around the convention."
"Maybe a little before, but could be at the convention," Trump added. "But we’ll have some great people."
Gov. Doug Burgum (R-N.D.) has repeatedly been cited as a likely pick for Trump's running mate, but, in my opinion, he doesn't bring much to the table aside from loyalty.

“the person will “most likely” be at Thursday’s debate” .....“most likely” ..... “They’ll be there,” ..... Don’t be surprised if he brings 3 or 4 of the “front runners” and doesn’t announce which one he has picked.
Did you go to the link in my post below the one to you? It explains a lot of his positions- they are quite liberal really. Not many have heard of his positions- he kinda just slid into the poli5ical scene quietly, but after learning about his views, I would personally choose another candidate
And yep, the left will destroy him if he runs as vp for sure

Seeing how Tech took it upon themselves to censor R’s last time around ... I think having someone who can talk to them as a peer is more important than ever before. Trump has been President, he knows how to be President, conduct foreign policy, get stuff thru Congress, get Supreme’s nominated and accepted, and has learned his lesson on staff. There will be a lot of changes over the next 4 years, and the combo of Burgum and having Musk on his side I think will restructure how R’s handle elections and the media for decades into the future ... so yes.
Plus I dont want Vivek (his coming out of nowhere scares me), Rubio (deepstate plant), Carson (too nice to ever win Presidency on his own), Vance (dont want to lose Senate seat and doubt he could win Presidency ever) or most of the other names floated (checkbox fillers that don’t actually bring anything other than the color of their skin or gender). Burgum is the only one that I think brings anything to the table.
I fell for “W” coming out of nowhere, so I understand the reluctance for Vivek. We don’t have much of a bench, although it’s light years ahead of theirs.
Too bad Trump and DeSantis don’t get along.

Excellent. This is the kind of information I’m looking for on Burgum. This is def. a feather in his cap. I’m on board if he Trump picks him. This is maga, pro American policy. I like it.
