Donald Trump has selected his running mate for the 2024 presidential campaign.
During a rally in Philadelphia on Saturday, Trump revealed that he has selected his vice presidential candidate. Sounds exciting, right? Well, there's a bit of a catch. Trump didn't reveal the identity of his pick, but gave a major hint.
When asked by NBC News during a Philadelphia campaign stop whether he has decided on his vice presidential pick, Trump responded, "in my mind, yeah," adding that the person will “most likely” be at Thursday’s debate against President Joe Biden.
"They'll be there," he continued. "I think we have a lot of people coming."
Trump said that “nobody knows” his choice yet. NBC News has previously reported that Trump is zeroing in on Doug Burgum, JD Vance and Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., as possible top contenders for the slot.
Sources familiar with the selection process told NBC News that Burgum, the governor of North Dakota, and Vance, an Ohio senator, are considered the top two finalists. Rubio is still being considered, though a constitutional hiccup would require that either Trump or Rubio establish residency outside of Florida.
Trump senior adviser Brian Hughes said in a statement that the campaign's top criterion for selecting a running mate “is a strong leader who will make a great President for eight years after his next four year term concludes.”
Trump said that he'll announce his pick "right around the convention."
"Maybe a little before, but could be at the convention," Trump added. "But we’ll have some great people."
Gov. Doug Burgum (R-N.D.) has repeatedly been cited as a likely pick for Trump's running mate, but, in my opinion, he doesn't bring much to the table aside from loyalty.

“Winsome Sears”
She’s a lieutenant governor and no critical seat in the House or Senate would be put at risk by choosing her.
I also believe Virginia teeters politically. She could ensure it goes Republican.
This would be such a brilliant play.
Youngkin would be a great VP.
Winsome would be a GREAT FEMALE BLACK GOVERNOR.
And even Jaso Miyares, a magnificent AG, will go on to any number of important roles. He is great, also.
I LIKE IT.
Nothing’s done until it is done. That whole article and the conversation, which is repeated in many reports, says nothing specific. And a bit of misdirection as Trump won’t pick illegible Rubio who is a fellow resident of Florida.
There is no audience allowed at first debate , a condition Trump foolishly agreed to , so if he is there we won’t see him
Carson is smart as they come, competent, checks a lot of boxes.
But I don’t think he presents himself as strong enough to be president if, God forbid, Trump died in office.
That’s not good.
Not supposed to be an audience!!
Stefanik is a PITBULL!!!! She also knows how CONGRESS works!!
You are dim.....witted. You know NOTHING about him.
Smarten up......he’s been in the news for months!!
BOTH are RINOs
I don’t know what’s worse the “top two” or that he’s debating Joe and potentially falling into the same trap as 2020?
All kidding aside, it would be nice to see a VP who actually helps get things done. The role has traditionally been a relatively background figure, but other than the usual symbolic and ceremonial roles, we don't usually hear too much from them during their tenure. (Other than bloviating from kookadooks like Gore & Harris)
If cadaver joe is flopping all over the stage, freezing, wandering around, it’s best that Trump not announce his running mate, let the BIG story be cadaver joe’s behavior. Everyone will see it live so the black lesbian can’t tell us that it’s fake.

Matt is a solid firebrand like Trump. Saw him introduce Trump at a rally in Waterloo, IA in Dec2023.
He is 100% behind Trump.
Really?
I suspect Trump will announce it during the debate near the end so all post debate coverage is talking about that.
Carson has a problem im afraid. He advocated for severe gun restrictions, and was also a believer in death panels, claiming g that the money spent on the sick elderly would be better off spent on young health people instead. You can find both of those facts online.
You know he left will pounce on that. He is a good man in most cases, but his beleifs on those issues was too radical for my taste.
He has some very liberal views- a ru down of them can be found here

That’s the first I’ve ever heard this in all these years. You know the left will jump on anything derogatory, even make up big lies to defeat the movement.
